Who Is Samuel Green?

Welcome to week four and our ‘The Crescent and The Cross’ mission. Here at The Page we decided to take some time out of our regular schedule of articles to and spend some time getting to know a bit more about Sam Green. Sam is our guest speaker main meetings this week and our dialogue evening with MAWU on Tuesday night.

The Page: Tell us about your family?

Sam Green: I have been married to Anne-Petra for 13 years and we have 5 children.

TP: What do you do in your spare time?

SG: With 5 children I don't really have spare time. My favourite activity is to spend time with my wife doing anything. One day I would like to play golf.

TP: Where did you grow up?

SG: Blacktown.

TP: What is your job?

SG: I work as a Bible teacher, administrator, trainer and evangelist.

TP: Why are you interested in Islam?

SG: Many years ago I meet a Muslim and the first thing he did was attack Christianity and say that it was corrupted. I had never heard the arguments he presented before and did not know what to say. I realised that Christians needed some answers to these attacks and began to work with others in answering these issues.

TP: How did you start to find out about Islam?

SG: I learned about Islam from the Muslims I met and from the books and videos they gave me. I then read the Qur'an and I am currently reading the hadiths and sirat. The Internet has also provided for a lot of learning in this area.

TP: How did you become a Christian?

SG: When I was about 16 God allowed me to understand that he will judge us. I tried to live a life to please him but knew that I failed. I discovered that I could not save myself from my sins. I considered several religions but when I heard the gospel it explained my experience. The gospel said that I was lost in my sin and needed God to save me. He had done this through Jesus dying for my sin. I knew that this was true and wanted God's grace and mercy so I became a Christian.
